STEAL A BUSINESS #1

HOW TO STEAL A BUSINESS

Recently, one of my clients who owns a beauty salon was telling me when the person she worked for died she bought the business from the dead women's daughter for just $1.00.

I told her I started my accounting and tax business with zero capital. I had what is called an angel give me the rent money till my business started making money which was in 4 months. He wanted nothing in return.

But then we started talking abut my former employer. I worked at for a private school teaching taxes, payroll, accounting and business software. I did this for about 7 years. I also ran my accounting and tax business at the same time.

I told Trina, the beauty salon owner that my boss ran the first school for a millionaire; the millionaire did not do any of the day-to -day work. He did not work on this business he just owned it and had my boss who l we will call Rat operate the business. Mr. Rat knew how to operate the school business and get students in with a shot gun approach. But that is another story.

The school had the strange name (real name) North Western Research Institute. The boss and the millionaire had a fight. About what they fought, I do not know.

Like a thief in the night, my boss started a new corporation and bought a nice building for a school. He told no one about it. One fine day when everything was in place he took the students from North Western Research Institute and put them in his new corporation which he now owned. He also had all the employees go with him in the new corporation.

He started making big money all for himself now. The millionaire must not had any agreement in which Mr. Rat could not compete. The millionaire never sued him either.

Mr. Rat actually stole a very profitable business. He still operates it today. He even got accreditation for the school. Now, he does tell the students this accreditation isn't worth the paper it is written on. It is legit, however it is really useless in my humble opinion. But you can't take these credits and take them to a regular college. You can take college x credits and college Z may take some of them or all of them you transfer. My daughter who went to two different colleges was able to do this.

But I taught briefly at a regular college and this lovely young student of mine went to a business school. She even got a degree from the business school in accounting. However the college would not take any one of those credits. A business school is not a college. This student was in my accounting class at this college and was fit to be tied because she was so mad.

And this what most colleges that I am familiar with do. They take other colleges credit and not business school credits.

What can say about this. Rat makes $50,000 or even $100,000 per year from the school. This is a net figure, not gross. And he got away with stealing a business. It must be nice. I wonder how he sleeps at night. He probably would never admit he stole a business. He probably never thinks about it, I know he thinks mostly about MONEY.

At least Trina and I have nothing to be ashamed of. I know I sleep great at night. I think Trina Sleeps great at night too.

  • Stealing a business is easy is you can get control of the cash flow of the venture. i.e. You manage a shop, you run stock/take cash and simply pay the owner for the rent. You are in effect in "control" despite the fact the fact that you don''t actually legally own the lease or freehold to the shop. Have seen it done many time in old established shops when the owners lose interest and place a "manager" in it to run it for them.
